La belle-mère, cause de divorce
La belle-mère est victime de préjugés et de vilaines blagues. Mais en Italie, elle est dorénavant une officielle cause de divorce.
Une femme de Vasto dans le sud de l'Italie a reçu l'aval de la plus haute juridiction d'appel italienne. Dans le divorce qui l'oppose à son mari elle avait donné comme motif "intrusion exagérée et infondée dans la vie privée du ménage par les parents du mari".
"Mon mari est l'esclave de sa mère", dit-elle. "Il la soutient dans tout ce qu'elle dit et fait, alors qu'elle me critique systématiquement, à propos de mon maquillage, ce que je mange, la façon dont j'élève les enfants, etc."
Le tribunal lui a donné son appui, et lui a accordé la garde des enfants assortie d'une pention alimentaire et d'indemnisation pour n'avoir pas été autorisée à travailler depuis son mariage.
L'ex-mari est, d'après Reuters, reparti vivre chez sa mère.

Mother-in-law reason for divorce
A mother-in-law is a victim to many prejudices and rude jokes. But in Italy she is now officially an accepted reason for divorce.
A woman from Vasto in southern Italy has now got the approval of the highest court of appeals in Italy. In the divorce-case against her husband she gave as officiell reason "exaggerated and inappropriate interference in the private life of the spouses by the parents of the husband".
"My husband was his mother's slave," the woman says. "He supported her in everything she said and did, while she always critizised everything about me; my make-up, the food I ate, the way I raised the children etc."
The court supports the woman in this, and has accorded her both the custody of the couple's daughter and a generous financial support. The latter is both a child support payment and compensation because she supposedly was not allowed to work after marrying.
The ex-husband has, according to Reuters, moved in with his mother.
